"Thank you for making this excellent, research-based learning opportunity that is both extremely accessible and affordable. This is the best kind of PD: it’s one hour at a time so I can learn and then have time to synthesize and apply. It provides information I can apply to my practice immediately; and I can listen and learn while I drive, fold laundry, etc. thanks for the research and resources!"

Cory Clark, PhD, LCMHC, NCC, BC-TMH,

Dr. Cory Clark earned his PhD in Counseling and Counselor Education and his Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Cory is one half of the founding duo at Be a Problem Solver Services. He specializes in working with children, adolescents and families on a variety of issues and concerns. With experience ranging from private practice to schools to developing behavior programs in Beijing, he is very passionate about supporting young people and their families. Dr. Cory values relationships across the lifespan, and considers family dynamics heavily in his counseling work. Dr. Cory’s research has centered around developing a child counseling competencies model to help counseling professionals understand what is required to effectively support the mental health needs of young people. In addition to this important work, he is a faculty member at the Chicago School where he trains masters and doctoral level students in the counseling field. Dr. Cory enjoys signing up for races that he can’t quite do (but enjoys training for), dancing in the kitchen with his sons, and going on adventures with his family.

Kate Melillo, MEd, CCC-SLP

Kate Melillo earned her Masters of Education in Communication Disorders from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. She is a recipient of special grant funding from the Office of Special Education for the Interdisciplinary Project to Prepare Culturally Competent SLPs to Provide Services to Children with Disabilities. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Exercise and Sports Science. Kate is one half of the founding duo of Be a Problem Solver Services, a mental health and executive functioning practice specializing in helping children and adolescents. Together with her husband, Dr. Cory Clark, she deeply cares about helping children, parents and families learn to navigate the social world in the way that works best for them. This includes examining relationships with both family and peers. Kate believes that communication is the backbone of relationships, and learning how to advocate for oneself can help parents, grandparents, trusted adults and kids get more out of the world around them. Kate is an executive functioning specialist. She has used her background as a trained improv comedienne to create a Relationship-based Model of Executive Functioning treatment. The model focuses on putting the mental health of the client first using empathy and relationship-building, while increasing self-advocacy, flexibility, self-monitoring and other executive functioning skills. Kate is an avid traveler and Disney fan. She loves practicing yoga, takes planning vacations very seriously, and loves going on adventures with her husband and kids.
