Learning Objectives & Course Description

Continuing education in the field of speech and language pathology is difficult to navigate, made more difficult by misinformation about what it takes to maintain your ASHA CCCs (the American Speech and Hearing Association’s Certification of Clinical Competence) and the role of the ASHA Registry.  In this 30 minute webinar we will review ASHA’s role in continuing education, including reviewing what is required of SLPs to maintain their certification, the definition of the “ASHA CEU” and the role of the ASHA Registry.  We will also review bigger picture concepts, including why continuing education is so important and how professional development intersects with evidence based practice in our field.

After attending participants will be able to:

  1. Describe activities that uphold certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association
  2. Describe the different between an ASHA CEU and certification maintenance hours (CMH)
  3. Describe how continuing education intersects with evidence based practice in the field of speech and language pathology
